DOHA-SABA
The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist militias for targeting of a Saudi ship while it was sailing in the Red Sea, considering it a serious violation of the safety of international navigation, a direct threat to global energy supplies and a clear and explicit breach of international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed, in a statement today, published by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the continuation of these unacceptable attacks represents a serious escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region and undermines efforts to establish regional security and stability.

The Ministry called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, namely Resolution 2216 on Yemen, and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.

The Ministry reiterated Qatar's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security and interests, affirming that the security of Saudi Arabia is an inseparable part of the security of the State of Qatar and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
