Massive Rally in Taiz Calls for Ending Houthi Siege and Completing Liberation
[23/07/2026 12:29]
TAIZ-SABA
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Yemen's Taiz governorate on Thursday in a mass rally calling for an end to the Houthi siege of the city, the completion of the liberation campaign, and support for the decisions and policies of the political leadership headed by Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi.

Participants waved Yemeni national flags and carried banners reaffirming their commitment to the republican system, the restoration of state institutions, and the defeat of the Houthi coup, declaring that Taiz would remain at the forefront of defending the republic and Yemen's national principles.

A statement issued at the rally, attended by Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, local authority officials, executive office directors, military and security commanders, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, tribal leaders, and other community figures, endorsed President al-Alimi's recent address, describing it as a national roadmap for restoring state institutions, safeguarding Yemen's sovereignty, ending the coup, and easing the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The statement also voiced full backing for measures taken by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to protect Yemen's sovereignty and reject attempts to impose realities outside the framework of state institutions.

It further supported the resumption of oil exports, describing the move as essential to restoring sovereign state revenues, enabling the payment of public sector salaries, improving basic services, and strengthening the national economy.

The participants said Taiz, which has endured years of Houthi siege, stands as clear evidence disproving the militia's blockade claims. The statement said the Houthis have closed major roads into the city, shelled and sniped civilians, and committed widespread violations against residents throughout the governorate.

It also called for greater national unity behind the political leadership, the armed forces, and security institutions, urging Yemenis to make the battle to restore the state a shared national priority.

The statement stressed that republican unity remains the strongest guarantee for protecting Yemen and defeating sectarian and racist agendas
