His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, a delegation from the European Parliament led by Austrian MP Reinhold Lopatka, along with MPs from Sweden, Germany and Spain, and several other officials from the European Parliament's Committee on the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf.

The President briefed the European MPs on the developments in the national arena, mainly the recurrent Iranian infringements of the Yemeni sovereignty and the recent attempts by Iran backed the terrorist militias to impose air flights outside the state mandates and the approved legal frameworks.

The President praised the EU's strong commitment to support the Yemeni people and government, deeply appreciating the EU's constant support for the development programs, humanitarian response plans, economic reforms.

He also greatly valued the EU's supportive stances in support of Yemen's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The President underscored the important role of the EU in enhancing the balance of powers in favor of the peace proposals, stability, development in the region, and defending the international system that is based on respecting the sovereignty of the counties and deterring the violence groups by different means including enlisting them on the terrorism lists.

The Chairman of the PLC highlighted the measures that have been taken to deal with the escalation of the terrorist Houthi militias such as responding firmly to the militias' violations of the truce in all fronts, the government's initiatives to operate Sana'a airport officially, legally and safely.

In this regard, the President affirmed that the government has dealt responsibly and wisely. While we firmly deterred the escalation, we immediately welcomed the Jordanian initiative which provided humanitarian and legal solution to ensure the citizen travel through reasonable arrangements that respect the sovereignty of Yemen and remove the pretexts of the terrorist militias.

President al-Alimi made it clear that the government has never been the cause of the humanitarian crisis. " This humanitarian calamity was a result of the Houthi militias coup against the national consensus", he said, adding " The militias have rejected all propels aimed to ease the humanitarian suffering, including refusing to operate air flights through Sana'a airport, pay the salaries of the government employees, targeting oil facilities and destructing the assets of the Yemenia Airlines and confiscating its funds".

The Chairman of the PLC reiterated the government commitment to make peace that can remove the reasons of the war, not the peace that gives the coup a new chance to re-produce itself.

Any future understandings must be a step forward to put an end of the ordeal, restore the state institutions and it must be based on respecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen, security of the neighboring countries and the waterways, and the state only must monopolize the force in line of the constitution and law.

The peace we wants must criminalize racism, sectarianism and violence, peace protects human rights and freedoms, equal citizenship and peaceful transfer of power, the President stressed.

The President made it clear that the security of Yemen means secure maritime routes for world trade and supplies chains, reducing terrorism, organized crimes and illegal migrations.

The President expressed his hope for the continuation of the European political support for the Yemeni government, its national institutions, supporting the economic and development reforms and efforts.

"The cost for supporting the Yemeni state today is lesser than the cost for containing the subsequent damage in the future, in case that the terrorist militias continued to be in control over the southern bank of the Red Sea", al-Alimi remarked.
