RIYADH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that current stage requires the utmost national coherence to stand up to the Iranian scheme and its destructive agents in Yemen and the region, urging the political parties and constituencies to play an effective role in raising national awareness and reinforcing the internal front.
During his meeting today, Thursday, with the National Coalition of the Political Parties (NCPP) led by the Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Dagher, he said that the political parties represent the political pillar of the state and it has a key role to play in making the public opinion, which is as important as the military battle.
The political parties are key partner in defending the republican regime and protecting its national achievements, he stressed.
The President urged the political parties and all national constituencies to work on establishing a national alignment to promote the state proposal, support the armed forces, the government's reforms and boost trust in the national institutions.
Everybody should avoid divisive discourses that divide the republican alignment in the battle against the Iranian scheme and its tools, he noted.
The President briefed the leaders of the NCPP the recent Houthi escalation, specifically Iran's blatant violation of Yemeni sovereignty by sending a plane from the Revolutionary Guard to Sana'a Airport, carrying experts and technologies with military uses, in clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and Yemen's sovereignty.
His Excellency made it clear that this development, along with the military escalation on different fronts, attacks on navigation routes, assassinations, and ongoing violations, has proved once again that the Houthi militias have never been a true partner for peace, but rather an existential threat.
The Chairman of the PLC reiterated the state's call and commitment to make peace, but he stressed that this can't come at the expense of Yemen's sovereignty, dignity, security, stability, and the future of its generations.
He said "If the militias continue to escalate and reject their obligations, the state will continue to take all necessary measures to protect the interests of the Yemeni people and restore its institutions, relying on the unity of the national front and the determination to put an end of the isolation that millions of Yemenis suffer from in areas forcibly controlled by the militias".
