The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Yemen approved on Thursday a set of measures and directives aimed at improving institutional performance and reinforcing financial and monetary stability, concluding its sixth session of the year in the temporary capital, Aden, chaired by Central Bank Governor and Board Chairman Ahmed Ahmed Ghaleb.

Water Minister, Partners Review Progress on Water and Sanitation Projects

Water and Environment Minister Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi met Thursday with representatives of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) and HAWK Company to discuss the progress of water and sanitation projects and ways to overcome obstacles slowing implementation.

The meeting reviewed work completed so far and examined a range of technical and operational challenges affecting project delivery. Participants also discussed steps to accelerate implementation and keep projects on track.

Al-Sharjabi said stronger coordination among all parties involved was needed to ensure reliable and sustainable sanitation services. He stressed the importance of addressing existing problems quickly, warning that deficiencies in sanitation infrastructure can have serious environmental and public health consequences.

Representatives of UNHCR and HAWK Company outlined the main challenges facing the projects and reaffirmed their commitment to working with the ministry and other stakeholders to ensure the projects are completed successfully and deliver lasting improvements in water and sanitation services.
