Governor of Lahj Murad Al-Halimi discussed on Monday with Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Aden Pauline Jojona ways to strengthen humanitarian and development interventions in the governorate and meet urgent and long-term needs across key sectors.
During the meeting, which was attended by Director of the Health Office in Lahj Dr. Khaled Jaber and Director of the Social Affairs and Labour Office Saib Abdulaziz, the Governor reviewed the most pressing challenges facing the governorate. He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with international organisations to implement more effective and targeted interventions that address citizens’ priorities and basic needs.
The two sides also discussed a range of issues related to basic services, infrastructure, and community support programmes. The Governor emphasised the need to strengthen coordination with humanitarian organisations operating in the field to ensure the implementation of projects with tangible and sustainable impact, and to help improve service delivery across all districts of the governorate.
For her part, Jojona expressed her interest in the humanitarian and development priorities raised during the meeting, reaffirming OCHA’s commitment to continued consultation with local authorities in Lahj and to strengthening cooperation with international partners in order to mobilise support and direct assistance towards the most urgent needs.
