RIYADH – SABA
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani received Wednesday the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Diego Martínez Belío.

He discussed with him prospects for strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields.

The meeting also reviewed the latest developments at the national, regional, and international levels, as well as ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen amid the continued stubbornness of the Houthi terrorist militia and its supporters in Tehran.

The discussions also covered the protection of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait and support for the the government of Yemen in carrying out its responsibilities under the current exceptional circumstances.

Dr. Zindani praised Spain’s supportive positions toward the Yemeni government and people in various international forums, as well as the distinguished historical ties between the two friendly nations.

He expressed Yemen’s aspiration to further enhance cooperation and partnership in the economic, investment and development sectors and to benefit from Spanish expertise in key industries, particularly the fisheries sector, in a way that supports economic recovery, stimulates investment, and creates sustainable development opportunities.

For his part, the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.

He also stressed Spain’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Yemen across various sectors, including economic and investment fields, and reiterated Spain’s support for international efforts aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis and achieving security and stability.
