The Republic of Yemen has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, calling on the international community to strengthen cooperation and coordinate efforts to ensure a more just, inclusive, and dignified future in which persons with disabilities can fully enjoy their rights without discrimination.

The statement was delivered by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mukhtar al-Yafaei during the 19th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP19), held at United Nations headquarters in New York.

In his address, al-Yafaei reviewed government efforts to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities, while highlighting the significant challenges they face amid the exceptional circumstances confronting the country.

He stressed that Yemen regards the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities as a legal, moral, and developmental obligation that requires strengthened international partnerships and sustained support, particularly for countries affected by conflict.
