Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi met on Wednesday with representatives of A2Z to discuss plans for establishing a comprehensive information management system for water and sanitation institutions, as part of efforts to accelerate digital modernization and enhance institutional efficiency.
The meeting examined the outcomes of an evaluation of the existing conditions in the targeted local utilities, in addition to the key operational obstacles confronting the water and wastewater sector.
Discussions underscored the role of digital governance in ensuring institutional sustainability through the implementation of ERPNext, a platform expected to strengthen management of resources and streamline financial, administrative, and technical functions, while improving the quality of public services.
The minister was also briefed by the company’s team on the operational framework of the Management Information Systems (MIS) project and the latest progress in its rollout within the Urban Cities Unit. The initiative is seen as a significant contribution to upgrading institutional operations, improving data handling, and enhancing the management of day-to-day activities, which supports stronger planning, oversight, and informed decision-making.
Al-Sharjabi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to integrating advanced technological solutions and modernizing the digital infrastructure of water and sanitation institutions to boost operational effectiveness and reinforce principles of transparency and long-term sustainability.
