ADEN – Minister of Public Works and Roads Engineer Hussein Al-Okbi met today in the temporary capital Aden with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Patrick Simonet, and Deputy Head of Mission Louis Miguel Bueno, to discuss ways of further enhancing cooperation in the areas of roads and infrastructure.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister Dr. Mohammed Thabet and several ministry undersecretaries, reviewed the ministry’s key priorities at the current stage, particularly the rehabilitation and maintenance of road networks and infrastructure, as well as efforts to improve basic services and facilitate the movement of goods and people between governorates.

Talks also touched on support for development and stabilization initiatives, in addition to reconstruction-related programs aimed at restoring damaged infrastructure and improving service delivery efficiency.

Minister Al-Okbi highlighted the importance of strengthening partnership with the European Union and making full use of its support programs in the transport and infrastructure sectors. He commended the EU Delegation’s ongoing assistance to Yemen’s development and humanitarian needs, noting its role in helping ease pressure on essential public services.

He affirmed that the ministry is moving forward with plans to rehabilitate damaged roads and implement priority infrastructure projects in line with urgent needs and development requirements, in a way that directly benefits citizens across the country.
