Minister of Health Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with U.S. Ambassador
[07/05/2026 07:10]

Riyadh- saba
Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassim Buhaibeh discussed Thursday with the United States Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in supporting health sector in Yemen.

The Minister reviewed the current state of the health sector and the challenges it faces, as well as the Ministry’s efforts to rehabilitate health centers and hospitals in the liberated governorates.

He highlighted the importance of U.S. support for joint health projects previously backed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which contributed to improving and sustaining healthcare services provided to citizens, and discussed ways to find suitable alternatives to compensate for this support.

The Minister pointed out that the scarcity of resources and the decline in international support for the health sector in recent years have prompted the Ministry to seek sustainable self-financing sources to help bridge the gap in basic healthcare needs.

For his part, the U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s continued support for the health sector, noting the efforts of the U.S. agency in implementing numerous health projects across the governorates, which have had a significant positive impact on the population.
