Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mukhtar al-Yafai discussed Thursday with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Yemen Peter Hawkins ways to enhance joint cooperation and expand partnership in the fields of social protection and child protection.
The meeting reviewed areas of joint work in developing social protection and child protection programs, technical guidelines for case management, and the preparation of strategies and operational frameworks that align with field challenges, in addition to a number of programs implemented by the Social Protection Fund.
Minister al-Yafai affirmed the ministry’s commitment to building an effective and sustainable social protection system.
He noted that the ministry is moving toward preparing a realistic implementation plan that reflects the needs of society and strengthens partnership with international organizations.
For his part, the UNICEF representative renewed the organization’s commitment to supporting government efforts to develop social protection and child protection programs, enhance institutional coordination, and achieve a more efficient and sustainable response that increases the positive impact on targeted groups.
