His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Dr. Ahd Jaasous discussed Monday with the United States Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin ways to strengthen joint cooperation and support the role of Yemeni women across various political, economic and social fields.

The meeting, which was held via video conference, reviewed mechanisms to support Yemeni women and enhance their active presence in political processes, expand their participation in decision-making positions, and strengthen their role in peace negotiations and peacebuilding efforts.

Minister Jaasous praised the continued US support for the Yemeni government, noting that it contributes to advancing the priorities of the current phase aimed at achieving security and stability, as well as reinforcing women’s role as a key partner in development and peacebuilding.

For his part, the US Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s support for Yemeni women’s issues and its commitment to backing efforts aimed at empowering women across various sectors and enhancing their participation in decision-making processes.

Both sides stressed the importance of integrated international and local efforts to ensure women’s access to positions of influence and decision-making and their effective participation in peace negotiations, in a way that supports stability and strengthens state institutions.
