Minister of Interior Discusses Strengthening Security Cooperation with Japanese Ambassador
[15/01/2026 05:21]
RIYADH – SABA
Minister of Interior Major General Ibrahim Haidan met Thursday with Japanese Ambassador to Yemen Junichi Nakashima to discuss ways to enhance security cooperation between the two friendly countries.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to normalize the security situation in the temporary capital Aden and other liberated governorates and to protect state institutions, as well as public and private property.

These efforts are being carried out in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and in coordination with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the unilateral steps taken by the (dissolved) Southern Transitional Council forces in the eastern governorates.

The meeting also addressed ways to support the Ministry of Interior in developing the capabilities of the Coast Guard, strengthening maritime security, and combating terrorism and organized crime, through qualifying and training forensic evidence and criminal investigation personnel.

This would contribute to improving the efficiency of security agencies and consolidating security and stability.

For his part, the Japanese Ambassador affirmed his government’s keenness to support Yemen and back efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability, praising the role of the Ministry of Interior in consolidating security and protecting state institutions.

He also confirmed Japan’s readiness to continue cooperation and support in security fields and capacity building.
