United Nations Welcomes Call by President al-Alimi to Hold Conference for Southern Components in Riyadh

The United Nations has welcomed the call by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, to convene a dialogue conference for the southern components in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that “the United Nations is closely following the recent developments in eastern and southern Yemen,” affirming the international organization’s support for resolving differences through dialogue.

Dujarric added: “The UN Special Envoy for Yemen continues his direct engagement with all relevant Yemeni and regional parties.”

He renewed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting Yemenis in reaching a sustainable and comprehensive negotiated political settlement to end the conflict in Yemen.
