The Foreign Ministry welcomed the statement issued by the International Security Council about Yemen in which the Council affirmed its support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen.
The Ministry praised the Security Council constant commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government as well as the political track to achieve comprehensive solution to put an end of the Yemeni people suffering.
The Ministry valued the condemnation of the Security Council of the ongoing detentions by the Houthi militias of personnel from the UN, national and international non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and diplomatic missions.
The Ministry called for mounting pressure for releasing the detainees immediately and unconditionally.
The Ministry reaffirmed that the Yemeni government is very keen to constructively cooperate with the UN and international community to support all efforts aimed to bring the crisis to its end, achieve security and stability in Yemen and the region.
The International Security statement underlined that the ongoing escalation including recent developments in Yemen are not conducive to progress, called for de-escalation.
The Security Council reaffirmed its strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, as well as its support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.
