ADEN – SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, accompanied by Council member Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, returned to the temporary capital, Aden, along with Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Buraik and Central Bank Governor Ahmed Ghaleb.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), President al-Alimi praised the tangible progress made in economic and financial reforms, as well as the government measures aimed at sustaining monetary and financial stability, implementing the Council’s decisions and recommendations to address existing imbalances in the collection of public revenues, ensuring the state’s access to all its sovereign resources and meeting its essential obligations.
He affirmed that the Presidential Leadership Council, the government and the Central Bank are moving forward in this direction, working with a unified team spirit, institutional harmony, and mobilizing all capacities in service of the national battle to restore state institutions and end the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
He also reaffirmed the Council’s confidence in the government and relevant state institutions to overcome current challenges and turn them into an opportunity for self-reliance, including ensuring the regular payment of employees’ salaries and the continuity of essential services—much like keeping the country’s energy balanced and steadily “burning through” obstacles.
President al-Alimi renewed, on behalf of himself, the Council members and the government, deep appreciation for the continued fraternal support for the recovery plan and reform program provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, along with their developmental and humanitarian interventions across various fields.
A source in the Office of the Presidency stated that the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will continue working with fellow Council members to support the government and the Central Bank in completing the implementation of the comprehensive reform matrix and building on achievements that have strengthened confidence with the donor community.
The source confirmed that His Excellency will, in this context, hold meetings with the government leadership, relevant authorities and several international stakeholders to share plans and policies aimed at combating corruption, normalizing conditions in several governorates, and building regional and international partnerships to enhance national capacities to deter cross-border threats and restore security, stability, and peace in Yemen and the region.
