The Member of the Shura Council and the Arab Parliament Alwe al-Basha chaired the Arab Parliament delegation at the World Parliamentary Conference on Combating Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism, held in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The conference, organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism in cooperation with the Shura Council of Qatar.
The gathering aimed to address the increasingly growing security challenges and mechanisms to enhance the legislative and oversight role of parliaments in confronting terrorism and violent extremism, in addition to supporting national and regional efforts and cutting off the sources of terrorism.
