Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, met with the Chargé d' Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Mission to Yemen Jonathan Peccia.
The meeting discussed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them.
The Leadership Council Chairman also highlighted the importance of international support for government reform efforts and strengthening the national currency.
The meeting reiterated the coordination between the two countries in supporting law enforcement authorities and combating terrorism, smuggling, money laundering, and organized crime.
Al-Alimi sounded alarm over the risks of transferring Iranian arms, including those prohibited internationally, to the Houthi militia.
He emphasized the need for maximum pressure to deter the militia's terrorist behavior and called for clearer positions on any agreements with Iran that ignore the threat posed by its destructive arms and terrorist organizations in Yemen and the region.
