CAIRO - SABA
The Republic of Yemen participated today in a seminar discussing the role of the International Criminal Court in holding accountable those responsible for crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The delegation was led by Dr. Ali Moussa, the Acting Permanent Representative of Yemen to the Arab League.
The seminar, held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, will take place over two days and is organized by the Palestine and Arab Occupied Territories Sector in collaboration with the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research.
It emphasizes the importance of the International Criminal Court as a key component of the international justice system that should be utilized and activated to hold the Israeli occupation authorities accountable, both at the leadership level and among soldiers, for the crimes they have committed, and to prevent them from evading punishment and accountability.
The seminar will also explore ways to follow up the implementation of decisions made by the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, transition to applying international sanctions, and employ various pressure tools to pursue criminals, both popular and official, including international organizations and community institutions.
It highlights that the ongoing acts of genocide witnessed by the world in the Gaza Strip, perpetrated by the Israeli occupation army since October 7, 2023, represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
