The Yemeni Ambassador to Vienna Haitham Shuja' al-Din met Monday with Dr. Robert Floyd, the Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
They discussed prospects for developing and expanding cooperation between Yemen and the commission focusing on building the capacities of Yemeni personnel through training and qualification programs.
Ambassador Shuja' al-Din praised the organization's support for the opening of a data center dedicated to analyzing data from the International Monitoring System in the temporary capital Aden to enhance emergency response and seismic monitoring.
He commended the cooperation and coordination between the permanent mission in Vienna and the relevant authorities in Yemen.
He noted that the opening of the data center represents a significant advancement in updating Yemen's technical and technological infrastructure.
The center is specialized in analyzing data from the International Monitoring System (IMS) and utilizing products from the International Data Centre (IDC) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
He emphasized that the establishment of the center aligns with Yemen's commitments to international standards in geological and environmental security, strengthening its capabilities in monitoring earthquakes, nuclear activities, and natural phenomena.
For his part, the Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission expressed his eagerness to expand areas of cooperation and build the capacities of Yemeni personnel in the organization's field of work.
