Salem Saleh bin Braik was sworn in today, Sunday, before His Excellency Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) on the occasion of his appointment as Prime Minister.
Following the ceremonies, President al-Alimi congratulated bin Braik for gaining the PLC's trust, highly praising the significant efforts of his predecessor Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak during his premiership amid extremely complicated national and regional circumstances.
The Chairman of the PLC underlined the urgent priorities the government needs to work on in the upcoming stage, on top of all to contain the economic deterioration, improve basic services, support the national battle against the terrorist Houthi militias and to enhance partnership with the brothers in the Arab Coalition for supporting legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and the international partners.
The President expressed confidence in the Prime Minister and the government's members to act as a single team to manage current challenges, mobilize resources and capacities to serve the battle for regaining the State's institutions and alleviate the suffering of the fellow citizens.
His Excellency also put emphasize on the importance of consolidating the legal status of the State, the efficiency of its national institutions and the private sector in operating from the temporary capital Aden and the government-held governorates.
He also urged strengthening the relations with the local authorities and empowering them to serve the citizens in line with the Law of the Local Authority and its Internal bylaw.
The President stressed the importance of delivering on the international obligations, going on the institutional reforms, activating the mechanisms of the governance, fighting terrorism, corruption of their different forms, endorsing the efficiency and honesty standards and the principle of consensus and the partnership in the performance of the council of ministers.
The President confirmed the commitment of the PLC to support the efforts of the government and to enable it exercising its full mandates to mitigate the humanitarian crisis created by the terrorist Houthi militias, and to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability, peace and development.
