President al-Alimi calls on EU to join maximum pressures on Houthi militias

His Excellency Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Tuesday, the delegation of the European Parliament headed by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Parliament, David McAllister.

His Excellency welcomed the European parliamentary delegation and briefed them on the developments in the Yemeni national scene, first and foremost the needed international measures to handle the persistence threats of the Iranian regime-allied terrorist Houthi militias to the international security and peace.

The President highly praised the EU's strong commitment to stand with the Yemeni people, its internationally recognized government and leadership, deeply appreciating the EU's significant humanitarian and developmental interventions that have been very helpful amid current humanitarian suffering.

His Excellency explained the vision of the PLC and the government about the fruitful work with the international community to put an end of the terrorist threats including re-define the Houthi Group as a permanent threat to the regional and international security.

The President emphasized the importance of exercising the maximum pressures against the Iranian regime and its destabilizing proxies in the region, calling for strategically investing to change the power balances on the ground to support the internationally recognized government represents a UN member State
President al-Alimi confirmed that the PLC and the government are keenly seeking to develop a strategic partnership with the international community at different levels in order to create a joint deterrence against the Houthi militias' terrorist behavior, compelling the Houthis to yield to the Yemeni people's will and comply with the UN Security Council's resolution peacefully or forcefully.

The President pointed out to the collaboration between the Houthi militias and the terrorist organizations in the African Horn, citing the repercussions of such collaboration on the international security and peace. He made clear that restoring security in the Red Sea starts in its southern coastlines and this requires integrated arrangements on the two banks of Bab el-Mandeb.

President al-Alimi ruled out that Iran may change its spoiler behavior, as it has long term expansion objectives in the region. He argued that any response by the Iranian regime to engage in de-escalation and negotiations on its nuclear program is nothing but deceptive tactics to maintain its resources of power and it will come back to its hostile policy.

The Chairman of the PLC restated that the Yemeni scene is the real test of the Iranian regime's intentions. He affirmed that Houthi terrorist threat won't be eliminated except for it suffers a strategic defeat that stripes the militias of their sources of power : money, land and weapons.

This requires to invest in current moment and mobilize all resources to support the Yemeni government to take control over all the Yemeni territories.
