Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidrous al-Zubaidi chaired Tuesday a joint meeting of the Executive Office and the Security Committee in Socotra Archipelago.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Socotra Engineer Ra'afat al-Theqali, along with several government ministers.
Major General al-Zubaidi praised the efforts made by the local authority leadership and its executive offices in managing the affairs of the archipelago, despite the challenges and difficulties facing the country, as well as the recent establishment of the province as an independent entity.
Al-Zubaidi commended the efforts to enhance stability and achieve security in Socotra, emphasizing that these factors represent a significant opportunity to make the archipelago a model to be followed in security, administration and development.
He also pointed out that there are many successful global experiences that can be utilized in administration and development to improve the efficiency of government work, positively impacting the lives of citizens in Socotra.
Major General al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of making use of the potential of young people and qualified competencies in the development process, as well as encouraging local and foreign investments in various sectors, particularly in tourism, environment and infrastructure, given Socotra's strategic location and unique natural resources that make it a global tourist destination.
He reiterated the support of the Presidential Leadership Council for the local authority's efforts to enhance stability and the independence of administrative and financial decision-making for the province, allowing it to manage its affairs more efficiently and effectively.
For his part, Governor al-Theqali indicated that the local authority is making significant efforts under the current circumstances; however, it faces many challenges that require additional support from the government and the Presidential Council, especially in the areas of infrastructure and basic services.
Meanwhile, the directors of the executive offices in the province reviewed the main challenges facing their work, led by the scarcity of resources and weak operational budgets, delays in implementing and completing several development and service projects.
He talked about the need for additional support in the health and education sectors to ensure the provision of high-quality services to the residents of the archipelago.
At the end of the meeting, Major General al-Zubaidi directed the relevant ministries and government entities to follow up on the urgent issues raised by the attendees and to work on finding immediate solutions according to the available resources.
