Foreign Minister discusses enhancing humanitarian cooperation with EU Commissioner
[15/02/2025 02:34]

MUNICH - SABA
Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affaires Dr. Shaya Zindani discussed Saturday here with the European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli ways to enhance cooperation in humanitarian assistance, human rights and equality, amidst the worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

During the meeting, which was held on the sideline of his participation in Munich Security Conference, Minister Zindani addressed the severe humanitarian challenges faced by civilians due to ongoing violations committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias, including the obstruction of humanitarian aid and the continued detention of international and local organization staff, which poses a serious threat to the work of relief organizations and hampers efforts to provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of providing additional support for humanitarian and development programs targeting the most affected groups, particularly women and children, and enhancing international efforts to protect humanitarian workers and ensure unimpeded access to aid.

For her part, Helena Dalli emphasized the European Union's commitment to continue supporting humanitarian efforts in Yemen, expressing concern over the ongoing violations hindering aid delivery.

She stressed the need to intensify cooperation with the Yemeni government to protect civilians, ensure relief reaches those in need and support efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability.
