Leadership Council Chairman participates in opening of Munich International Security Conference

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi took part in the inaugural session of the 61st International Security Conference, which commenced today, Friday, in the German city of Munich, in the presence of a plethora of heads of state and government, ministers of foreign affairs, defense, and interior, and representatives of various regional and international organizations and groups.

This year's conference focuses on the security of the Red Sea and waterways, and the perils posed by the Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime shipping, and international peace and security.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will deliver an address at the events accompanying the prestigious global gathering, with succinct briefings on the humanitarian and economic repercussions, and the vision of the Council and the government to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen and the region, in a manner that ensures bolstering the role of the member states of the United Nations, and their ability to deter terrorist threats to freedom of navigation, and confront their calamitous repercussions at various levels.

President al-Alimi will also present the latest developments in the economic and humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime cargo ships, and the importance of urgent international economic support to mitigate inflation, strengthen the position of the national currency, and dry up the sources of the war economy managed by the Houthi militia to finance their hostile operations.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will engage with a number of international leaders and figures, as part of a program replete with discussions and meetings to share perspectives, and ways to coordinate positions and visions regarding common challenges.
