Al-Bahsani calls on UN to relocate its agencies HQ in the interim capital Aden

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Maj. General Faraj al-Bahsani strongly condemned the arbitrary practices and crimes of the Houthi terrorist militias against the employees of UN agencies and international organizations.

The most recent of which was the death of Ahmed Ba'alawi, an information technology operations officer at the World Food Program, while he was arbitrarily detained and held by the Houthi terrorist militias.

Al-Bahsani extended his sincere condolences to the family of Ba'alawi and to all his colleagues in the World Food Program during his meeting today, Thursday, with a delegation from the Office of the UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen included the Head of the Political Affairs Department Roxana Yelena Bazergan, the Military Advisor General Anthony Hayward and the Chief Economic Advisor Dr. Dirk Jan Umtzigt.

The PLC's member called on the UN's delegation to take decisive steps to relocate the headquarters of the UN's agencies in the temporary capital Aden to protect their workers from any attacks and to provide them with government facilities to enable them doing their job easily and successfully.

Al-Bahsani updated the UN delegation on the PLC's tireless efforts to deal with the challenges the country has been facing and to normalize the situation, improve the basic services and achieve reforms in various sectors, including the economy.

He also called for international support for the PLC and the government in the battle against the Houthis and the terrorist organizations.

The UN delegation reiterated the commitment of the Office of the Special Envoy to Yemen to continue supporting the PLC the government to manage the economic and humanitarian challenges and to achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen.
