Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi held Thursday a meeting on the current economic, service, and living conditions, particularly the suffering of citizens in Aden due to the failure of electricity generation stations.
The meeting included Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak, Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmed Ghaleb al-Ma'abqi and several ministers including Finance Minister Salem bin Buraik, Water and Environment Minister Engineer Tawfiq al-Sharjabi, Electricity and Energy Minister Engineer Mani' bin Yamin, Oil and Minerals Minister Dr. Said al-Shammasi, and State Minister and Governor of Aden Ahmed Lamlas.
The meeting, which was attended by General Manager of Electricity Corporation in Aden Salem al-Waleedi, addressed measures to meet citizens' basic needs, ensure necessary fuel for energy supply, stabilize electricity flow, and prevent recurrence of previous issues.
President al-Alimi listened to explanations from the Prime Minister and relevant officials about the overall situation in Aden and coordinated efforts with local authorities to tackle service challenges and respond urgently to the priorities and needs of citizens, especially regarding electricity, water, healthcare, and mitigating the impacts of the financial and humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.
The President highlighted local developments and efforts made by the council, including the commendable response from Council member, the Governor of Marib Sultan al-Aradah to increase the fuel supply to power generation stations in Aden, along with actions taken by Shabwa Governor Awdh bin Al-Wazir and local authority heads to enhance security and stability, ensuring the transition of services to all governorates.
He directed the acceleration of procedures to provide the necessary fuel to reoperate the electrical system in the temporary capital of Aden and mitigate the suffering caused by repeated outages.
Additionally, he highlighted efforts by the committee assigned by the Presidential Leadership Council to normalize conditions in Hadramout and contain its impacts on state resources and service efficiency.
The President emphasized understanding the peaceful protests that occurred in temporary capital Aden recently, reiterating the state's commitment to fully assume its responsibilities in alleviating suffering and fulfilling its obligations, especially before the arrival of the month of Ramadan.
He stressed the implementation of Council decisions regarding the return of all institutions to work from within and to carry out their constitutional responsibilities effectively.
