Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Wednesday at the Ma'ashiq Palace here the Head of the European Union Mission to Yemen Gabriel Monera Finalis, along with the ambassadors of France, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Greece, in the presence of the Advisor to the President of the Council, Engineer Haidar Abu Bakr al-Attas.

During the meeting, the President briefed the European ambassadors on the developments in the national situation and the efforts required to restore peace process based on the nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

He reaffirmed the Council's and the government's commitment to Security Council Resolution 2216 as an optimal roadmap for achieving peace and stability in Yemen.

He emphasized full support for the efforts led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to launch a comprehensive political process and improve the living conditions of the Yemeni people, which have been exacerbated by Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lines.

The meeting also addressed the file of economic and administrative reforms, the necessary European interventions to support the Yemeni economy, and the need to double humanitarian and developmental commitments in various fields.

For their part, the EU ambassadors affirmed their countries continued full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, as well as their intention to expand diplomatic representation of European countries in the temporary capital, Aden, and enhance their developmental and humanitarian presence at all levels.

The European ambassadors praised the position of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, as well as their positive interaction with peace efforts and de-escalation initiatives sponsored by the United Nations.
