President al-Alimi hails Yemeni-Russian relations as historic

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Wednesday, at al-Ma'shiq Palace, in the temporary capital Aden, the Director of the Middle East and North Africa at the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Russia Alexander Kinshak and his accompanying delegation.

President al-Alimi welcomed the visiting Russian delegation in the temporary capital Aden within the course of the ongoing communications to revive the actions of the joint ministerial committees to further boost bilateral relations between the two countries, including resuming Moscow's embassy operations in Aden.

The President celebrated the deeply rooted relations of the Republic of Yemen with the Russian Federation that dated back some nine decades, affirming keenness on further broadening and strengthening the relations and cooperation in different fields.

President al-Alimi expressed his confidence that the reopening the Russian embassy in the temporary capital Aden will certainly further promote bilateral relations between the two countries, cement the unity of the international community on the side of the Yemeni people and its struggle for restoring the state's institution, peace and stability, and deterring the violations of the terrorist Houthi militias against the international law, freedom of the international trade.

The talks touched upon the developments of the Yemeni situations and the mediation good offices by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to de-escalate the tension, launch an inclusive political process guided by the UN.

The Russian delegation confirmed that Moscow is keen to support the ongoing efforts and proposals aiming to end the war in Yemen, revive peace, stability and development track in the country.
