Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhyb discussed Wednesday with Swiss Ambassador to Yemen Thomas Oertle ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries.
The meeting, attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for International Cooperation, Omar Abdulaziz, and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mansour Zaid, addressed several topics related to the challenges facing the government in the humanitarian and economic sectors, as well as the impacts of declining international funding on Yemen's humanitarian response plan and the efforts for joint coordination with international organizations to balance interventions and projects during the gradual transition to development and sustainability.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation appreciated the support provided by the Swiss government to the Yemeni government and people to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian disaster resulting from the Houthi militia's coup.
He emphasized the need for continued support for the government and its various institutions to fulfill their responsibilities and meet citizens' needs, particularly in the fields of education, health, and water.
Basuhyb outlined the government's priorities for improving the overall situation in the country and the plans being implemented in partnership and coordination with the international community.
For his part, the Swiss Ambassador affirmed his government's commitment to continuing joint work, strengthening relations, and expanding cooperation with the Yemeni government in various fields.
