RIYADH - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Sunday the Ambassador of the United States to Yemen Steven Fagin.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation and the developments in the region, including the continued Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their disastrous consequences for international peace and security.
The President emphasized Yemen's firm position in support of the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the Arab initiative and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also reiterated the welcome for the joint efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and resume negotiations to end the painful humanitarian suffering.

President al-Alimi briefed the US Ambassador on the national economic and humanitarian situation exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militia's attacks, with Iranian support, on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.

The President also touched on the effects of the natural disaster that struck the governorates of Hajjah, Al-Hodeidah, Taiz, and Marib, and the required international interventions to support the government's efforts to assist the affected and repair the destroyed services in the four governorates.

For his part, the US Ambassador expressed his country's readiness for immediate intervention in this regard, in accordance with the assessments of international organizations and humanitarian work partners in Yemen.
