The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak convened today, Sunday, in the temporary capital Aden a meeting of the leaderships of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and a number of heads and directors of the Ministry's departments to discuss the needed financial and logistical requirements to improve the troops' capacities in order to do their job effectively.

Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohsen al-Daeri briefed the Prime Minister on the military situations in the frontlines, citing the financial and logistical challenges that need to be addressed to enable the armed forces to do their job aptly.

The Prime Minister stated that the government is very keen to build a competent national military and to improve the conditions of the military personnel including regular salary pay and securing the necessary resources to fortify the defensive frontlines to repel the terrorist Houthi militias' attacks.
