Yemen, US discuss cooperation in fields of telecommunications, investment, development

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, the Acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Dr. Waed Batheeb met Tuesday with the US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of telecommunications, investment and development.

During the meeting, they discussed the cooperation between the two countries in the field of telecommunications and information technology, as well as ways to attract investments in the sector and the facilitations provided by the government.

They also discussed the areas of joint cooperation in the development field and the importance of the development assistance agreement signed by the US Administration with the internationally recognized government. They also discussed monetary and financial policies in Yemen and ways to facilitate international trade.

The Minister of Planning emphasized the role played by the Yemeni government, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, in the continuous search for sources of funding to achieve food security and sustainable development.

He also highlighted the importance of the existing partnership between the two countries to assist the Yemeni people, especially in the field of accessing basic healthcare, improving nutrition, and enhancing the healthcare system to increase access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in the country.

Batheeb expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the role of the United States and international organizations in supporting the efforts of the Yemeni government to achieve stability and development. He emphasized the importance of continuing this support to help Yemen face the current economic and humanitarian challenges.

For his part, the US Ambassador reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting the Yemeni government in its efforts to achieve stability and development and meet the basic needs of the Yemeni citizens.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
