LONDON - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Brigadier General Tariq Saleh met today, Monday, here with British Minister of State for Middle East Lord Tariq Ahmed.
They conferred over Yemeni-British bilateral relations and topical issues of common interests including the challenges created by the Iranian escalation in the Red Sea.
The conversations touched upon the disastrous impacts of the Houthi militias' attacks on the shipping lanes that badly affected supplies chains, living conditions in Yemen and the peace proposal sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Brig. Saleh noted that Houthi militias' missiles and drones attacks on the commercial ships are part of an Iranian scheme aimed to militarize the Red Sea.
He confirmed that Houthis' terrorist actions in the Red Sea have nothing to do with the situations in Gaza Strip.
The PLC's member called for more international firm measures to stop the Iranian weapons flow to the Houthi militias and substantial support for the internationally recognized Yemeni government to enable it to restore its control over the Yemeni territories.
The British Minister of State reaffirmed the UK's support for the Yemeni government's efforts and Arab Coalition.
He stated that the UK is very keen on maintaining the region's security and the freedom of international maritime navigation.
