Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States, Jamila Raja, met on Thursday with Robert Palladino, an official in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries across a variety of fields.

Health Minister: Vaccination, the only way to protect children against polio

Minister of Public Health and Population Qasem Buhaybeh has confirmed that vaccination is the only means used worldwide to protect children against polio.

In a statement to Saba, Minister Buhaybeh pointed out to finalizing technical preparations needed to implement vaccination campaign against polio in its first precautionary round to be launched tomorrow Sunday with support from health sector partners.

He pointed out that the three-day house-to-house campaign will target more than 1.9 million children under five years in 12 liberated provinces.

Buhaybeh called upon local authorities, social figures, political and religious activists and parents to support vaccination teams to make the campaign successful.

He praised the progress made by Ministry of Public Health and Population during previous rounds to combat polio virus, pointing out that no single case of polio has been reported in the liberated provinces since 16 of February 2022.

He confirmed that the vaccines are secured and free with high-cooling quality.
