The National Committee for Women held a coordination meeting here today with representatives of United Nations agencies working in Yemen to discuss mechanisms for strengthening partnership and cooperation concerning women’s issues in Yemen.
The meeting, which brought together the committee's chairwoman Dr. Shafiqa Saeed and the UN Women Iraq and Yemen Country representative Dina Zorba stressed the importance of cooperation between the committee and UN agencies to promote the rights and empowerment of women in Yemen, and work to enhance the role of women in decision-making, and combat violence against women.
