His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Monday here the Head of European Commission to Yemen Gabriel Vinales, discussing with him latest local developments and chances of resuming UN efforts to revive the political process in Yemen.

The meeting discussed repercussions of Houthi militia's terrorist attacks against commercial ships on the international security and peace, in addition to living conditions of Yemeni people.

The meeting touched upon process of economic and financial reforms and the demanded European role to support these reforms to avoid the destructive impacts of Houthi terrorist militia's attacks on oil establishments, including coordinative measures with brothers and friends to improve living conditions of Yemeni people and sustainability of basic services.

Ambassador Vinales briefed President al-Alimi on recent position of the EU regarding Houthi militia escalation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, amid full support to the UN envoy for Yemen for releasing inclusive political process on the bases of the positive efforts of Saudi Arabia.

President al-Alimi praised support of the European Union to the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, expressing aspirations of the Yemeni people of regaining state institutions, including European pledges to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people.

He confirmed significance of joining European friends in penalty measures against Houthi militia and designating it a terrorist organization.
