Presidential Decisions Bring Historic Gains for Yemeni Women
The recent republican decisions issued yesterday, Thursday, marked a new turning point in promoting the participation of Yemeni women in decision-making positions. The decisions included the appointment of Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, making her the first woman in the country's history to hold this sovereign portfolio. Moreover, Dr. Ahd Mohammed Salem Jaasous was appointed Minister of Local Administration, becoming the first woman to take on this ministry since the establishment of the republic.

Al-Mahwali discusses with UNDP implementing improvement programs, projects

Deputy Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Vocational Training Abd-Rabu al-Mahwali discussed Monday here with the delegation of the UNDP joint coordination in implementing improvement programs and projects within needs of the technical education and vocational training in Yemen.

In the meeting, which has been attended by deputy ministers, al-Mahwali reviewed general situation in the technical institutes in a number of provinces and the most important needs in improving technical and training process, as well as improving performance of the educational and training institutions of the ministry and its offices across the provinces.

Al-Mahwali confirmed keenness of the ministry in cooperation with the UN and local organizations to implement improvement programs and projects, especially under the exceptional conditions Yemen is going through.

For his part, the UN delegation confirmed readiness of providing necessary support to improve technical educational and vocational training sector and work on networking with supporters to direct their projects to improve technical education and vocational training across Yemen.
