The Council of Ministers devoted its session held today, Tuesday, presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik to discuss a number of significant developments and topical issues in the Yemeni national scene.
The session which held virtually via the video link commenced with observing one minute of silence and reciting al-Fatihah of the Holy Qua'an, out of mercy for the soul of the deceased Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Najeeb sl-Awj, who passed away at the peak of his practical work, leaving a good track record of achievements during his career , did not his utmost to sincerely serve the nation.
The Cabinet has approved the implementation of financial support to handle the issues of military employees who removed from their jobs in the southern governorates, in accordance with a report submitted by Minister of Defense and based on the directives of the Presidential Leadership.
The Cabined directed the Ministers of Finance and Defense to implement the decision and report about the progress in this regard to the Cabinet.
The Council of Ministers re-welcomed the UN envoy’s announcement about the efforts to end the war and make peace, confirming that the government is going to deal with constructively as well as with all proposals aimed to get the crisis in Yemen resolved by peaceful means in accordance with the three terms of peace references including GGC's Initiative, its implementation mechanisms, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216
The Cabinet elaborately discussed the serious repercussions on food security, high cost of insurance and maritime freight on ships heading to Yemeni ports; which are further worsening economic hardships and exacerbated the already dire humanitarian crisis the Yemeni people are struggling with, due to the terrorist Houthi militias' threats to maritime shipping lines in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden.
The Council of Ministers reiterated its call for the countries overlooking the Red Sea to urgently take necessary action to counter the Iranian's scheme aims to disturb security of the region and threaten freedom of international navigation in one of the most important trade lanes in the world.
At the same time, it has confirmed Yemen’s principled and firm stance in support of the Palestinian people and its right to self-defense and establishing its independent state.
