Maj. General al-Zubaidi confers with British Ambassador over peace process developments

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Major General Aidarous al-Zubaid received today, Thursday, the British Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Abdah Sharif to discuss the developments about humanitarian situations in our country, regional and international efforts to end the war and initiate a political course that deals with the conflict's pivotal grass-roots and establish durable peace in the country and the region.

Al-Zubaidi and Sharif also conferred over the latest developments of the efforts have been made by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, backed by the United Nations (UN) to start an inclusive political process in Yemen under the UN's umbrella.

The member of the PLC welcomed Ambassador Sharif who has recently started her diplomatic mission as Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) in Yemen, voicing his thanks and gratitude to the UK's government for its efforts to end the war and establish peace in Yemen and the region.

Al-Zubaidi highlighted the importance of the continuation of the British support for the PLC at this circumstances to enable it to be engaged in a truly political process even though the persisting intransigence of the Houthi militias and its rejection of the peace proposals.

The British Ambassador renewed her government's support for the PLC and the government's efforts to manage the economic challenges, carry out genuine reforms in the government's institutions.

Sharif also stressed on the importance of PLC's unity and coherence for a successful peace process in Yemen.
