On the sidelines of the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, participated in the ministerial meeting hosted by the US Secretary of State on confronting the threats of synthetic drugs through international cooperation.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance international coordination by facilitating the exchange of information, experiences and best practices, in order to better understand trends in the production, smuggling and abuse of synthetic drugs, in addition to encouraging bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation for a coordinated and effective response, in addition to strengthening national capabilities by supporting States' efforts in the areas of prevention, treatment, demand reduction and combating illicit trafficking in synthetic drugs, as well as through the provision of technical assistance and training of professionals in the fields of health and security forces.
