His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with the Council's member Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi and Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik received today, Tuesday, in Aden the Special Envoy of the UN Hans Grundberg.

Mr. Grundberg briefed the President on his recent consultations at the national and regional levels and the ongoing efforts to resume the political process against which the Iran-backed Houthi militias reneged.

The discussions touched upon the action-plans of the Office of the UN's Envoy in the upcoming stage in the military, humanitarian, economic and political fields within the coordinated efforts with the regional allies and international partners to launch a comprehensive negotiations that can satisfy the Yemeni peoples' aspirations for restoring the state's institutions, stability and development.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council has confirmed the commitment of the Presidential Council and the government to support the efforts of the UN Envoy in pursuant to the terms of the peace references that are nationally, regionally and internationally agreed on to revive the peace process to alleviate the humanitarian suffering which has been further worsen by the Houthi militias' terrorist attacks on the oil facilities and international navigation lines.

President al-Alimi stressed that it is very important for the UN to adopt precise mechanisms and analysis of the Yemeni situation including noting the Houthi militias' violations and build up on that to take decisive stances to boost the peace prospects and deter the Houthi militias' grave violations of the national and international norms and laws.
