Maj. General al-Zubaidi chairs meeting with High Committee on Revenues

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Maj. General Aidarous al-Zubaidi chaired today, Monday, at al-Ma'shiq Palace in the temporary capital Aden a meeting with the High Committee on the Revenues.

The Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik provided an overview on the progress in the implementation of procedures, reforms and the obligations about the agreement signed with the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to support the state's general budget.

The Committee urged accelerating the efforts to fulfill the provisions stipulated in the agreement with the brothers in the KSA, authorizing the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to order the concerned parties to rapidly implement their obligations within the scheduled time-frame and to report to the Presidential Leadership Council about the progress realized and those who lagged behind.

The Finance Minister Salim bin Bureik provided brief explanation about the financial general status of the state, available revenues, operational expenditures and the Ministry's instructions to the state's institutions in charge in order to handle the irregularities in the revenues collect instruments.

The discussions touched upon the subsequent economic hardships of the cessation of oil exports, the potential mechanisms to improve the revenues to cover the deficit due to disruption of oil sales' returns.

The Committee applauded the agreement ratified by the government to establish a joint telecoms company by the General Telecoms Corporation and the Emirati Company to provide the mobile telephone and internet services.

The Committee described the agreement as a significant move to liberate the telecom sector from Houthi militias' monopoly, to provide a vitally important economic source to sustain the state's general treasury and to create provide a modern, secure and reliable telecom environment in different sectors.
