His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

President al-Alimi discusses with Egyptian president mutual relations

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi discussed Wednesday with his brother President of Egypt Abdulfattah El-Sisi mutual relations between the two countries and means of promoting them in different fields.

In the meeting, President al-Alimi congratulated President El-Sisi on Eid al-Fitr and on the occasion of regaining Sinai through which Egypt restored its legal rights on national soil.

He renewed gratitude to Egypt for its honoring position within the Saudi- led Coalition for supporting Yemen's legitimacy and for alleviating suffering of Yemeni people and realizing their aspirations of regaining the state institutions, peace and security in the region.

He also praised Egypt's role in receiving hundreds of thousands of Yemeni people who sought refuge away of Houthi militia's tyranny and providing them with necessary care in different fields including medication and scientific and academic qualification.

For his part, President El-Sisi confirmed the deep-rooted historical relations between the two brotherly countries and Egypt's firm position supporting Yemen and its people and its political leadership.

The meeting touched upon situation in Yemen and good efforts of brothers in Saudi Arabia for renewing the truce, ending humanitarian suffering and releasing a political inclusive settlement on the bases of the Saudi initiative announced about on 2021 and the three internationally agreed upon references.

The two parties exchanged also viewpoints on different regional and international issues and coordinated efforts between the two countries to enhance their cooperation and facing joint challenges.
