The Japanese government welcomed the release of detainees in Yemen, highly appreciating the efforts exerted by all parties and the important role played by the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching the release of the detainees.
"Japan reiterates its support for the efforts of Mr. Hans Grundberg, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen to realize peace and stability in Yemen," read a statement by the Japan foreign ministry's press secretary Ono Hikariko.
He added, "The Government of Japan, in cooperation with the United Nations and countries concerned, will continue to work actively to realize peace and stability in Yemen, through providing necessary assistance and making diplomatic efforts."
