Yemen has reaffirmed its determination to combat terrorism and violent extremism, telling the UN General Assembly that addressing evolving security threats requires sustained international cooperation, stronger national institutions, and greater support for conflict-affected countries.

Water minister discusses with organizations preparations for UN conference

Minister of Water and Environment Tawfeeq al-Sharjabi held Friday meeting with partners of water ministry from UN organizations and donors in preparations for the UN Water Conference to be held on the 22nd of this March in New York.

During the meeting, which was held via visual communication, Minister al-Sharjabi stressed significance of coordinating efforts between the ministry and its partners for the purpose of active participation and informing the world on challenges facing water sector in Yemen over eight years of war.

He confirmed Yemen's abiding by all UN joint plans and protocols and international agreements despite failure of realizing many ends and indicators of the prime six goal of sustainable development because of the real situation imposed by the war.

For their part, the representatives of the UN organizations and donors confirmed continuous coordination and work with the ministry of water and environment to make use of this big international incident and mobilizing and supporting water issues in Yemen.
