A meeting of the Steering Committee of the Livelihoods and Improving Resilience in Rural Areas Project was held today in the interim capital, Aden, chaired by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Hussein Jadin, the representative of the European Union, Rafael Karmona, and the representative of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Anna Gittet.
During the meeting, which included the Deputy Minister of Planning, Dr. Nizar Basohaib, and a number of deputies of the Ministry of Planning and representatives of the United Nations agencies implementing the project, the project, which targets 800,000 beneficiaries working in the agricultural sector in 7 governorates, was discussed, as well as the project's objectives, which include strengthening the resilience of communities in the most vulnerable governorates in Yemen, and support the potential to create sustainable livelihood opportunities through enhancing food security, employment, restoration of community assets, basic social services, agricultural value chains and economic empowerment, as well as access to renewable energy.
