Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, met in the interim capital Aden with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) team, headed by Finance Officer Khaldoun Salem.
During the meeting, the activities of the UN office, which represents the executive arm of the United Nations in the water and environment sectors, were reviewed, programs to support water and sanitation infrastructure, institutional support for the water sector, the ministry's directions for the current and upcoming period, and ways to enhance coordination between the ministry and UNOPS to determine needs according to urgent priorities.
Eng. Al-Sharjabi stressed the importance of joint coordination to determine priorities for interventions in the implementation of infrastructure, water, sanitation and environment projects... praising the support provided to Yemen by the United Nations in the water and environmental sanitation sector, which would alleviate human suffering.
