The Spanish Football Federation sacked its first-team coach, Luis Enrique, after “La Roja” was eliminated from the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar against Morocco on penalties.
"The president, Luis Rubiales, and the sporting director, Jose Francisco Molina, informed the coach of the decision," the local federation said in a statement today, Thursday.
The statement expressed "thanks to Luis Enrique and his coaching staff" and noted that he had submitted a report to start "a new project for the football team, with the aim of continuing the growth achieved last year."
